Second Gear - Owner-controlled Website
Moving up a gear, the site owner has complete control over the content - text, photographs, layout etc. - of the website using the web engine's simple login panel and page editor. Up to ten pages.Example : romancottage.co.uk
Second Gear, like First Gear, sites are co-hosted with other clients' websites on one of our own domains, sharing webspace and database. All information on the database is, of course, totally private and separate from the other sharing domains.
Sharing in this way keeps setup and running costs down - ideal for sites without too much expected in the way of traffic. About half of our sites fall into this category, and it is more than adequate for e.g. most accommodation websites. However should traffic grow significantly, an upgrade to Third Gear will be necessary - not so bad as it means your website is doing lots of business for you!
Cost : £550 initial setup including first 12 months hosting and support
(subsequently £150 p.a.)
Upgrade to Third Gear at any time by paying the difference.
Extra web engine features such as Availability Charts, PayPal Payment pages, available free on Third Gear sites, may be purchased for additional fees (POA).
Certain features of the Web Engine such as Newsletter mailing, Back Office Bookings & Diary system and the News Panel are only available only on Third Gear sites - but upgrade is easy - contact your webmaster if you need them.
